Try this Rhone White Wine

2018 Le Domaine Clos des Lumières L’éclat

Le Domaine Clos des Lumières L’éclat Cotes Du Rhone

The Le Domaine Clos des Lumières L’éclat Cotes Du Rhone is a gem of a white wine. We found this at Weimax Wines in Burlingame for $12. It is a Rhone blend of 40% Viognier, 30% Grenache Blanc, and 30% Roussane. Rhone white wines have a distinctive floral nose and a wet stone characteristic. This beautiful blend is just right for relaxing in the garden in the late afternoon. The lovely aromas bring out the best of the fresh outdoors. Don’t worry, this wine will also work quite nicely indoors.

If you have visited the Southern Rhone, you know about the calcareous soil and the Le Mistral winds. Both are defining terroir characteristics that make the Southern Rhone wines wonderful and exciting.

As we often state, wine lovers need to branch out and try different styles of wine. Too many people stick with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Trying different white wines is a great adventure. You must give the Le Domaine Clos des Lumières L’éclat a try. It is a white that one will enjoy as a cocktail wine, and with seafood and light dishes. 89 Points.

Bogle Petite Sirah

2017 Bogle Petite Sirah California

The Bogle Vineyard Petite Sirah was a surprise wine discovery in my wine cellar. The first surprise, I do not recall buying the Bogle Petite, perhaps someone gave it to me. The second surprise, I found the wine to be very tasty. Bogle produces a lot of supermarket wines in large quantities. I find the Bogle wines to be respectable and enjoyable, as much as wine can be for under $10. The Bogle Petite Sirah is the best of their supermarket wines.

I like the spice and the dark fruit flavors, with some added cocoa characteristic. It is not inky dark as most Petite Sirah wines, and is a little more on the mellow side of this grape. The label does not tell us much about the wine, except that “California” on the label means the grapes came from various wine regions in California. The next time you shop at your supermarket, pass on the Bogle Essential Red and choose the Bogle Petite Sirah California. 88 Points.

The Kitchen Garden Recipes

For the Clos des Lumieres, pick up some Arugula (Rocket), if you grow it all the better. Here is a recipe for Arugula as a pizza topping to pair with this Rhone white beauty. Arugula is easy to grow and very tasty.

Are you growing cherry tomatoes and basil? Make this pizza topping and open the Bogle Petite Sirah.
