Where to get started in wine country – which wineries to visit

We will choose wineries that have reasonable tasting fees and wine prices. After all, this is GoodCheapVino.

We will start with a few of our favorite wineries in Sonoma County in the Healdsburg area. Be sure to visit the winery’s website for visiting information. Book a time to visit.

  • Foppiano – This winery is in the Russian River Valley AVA. It is family-owned with a start date of 1896. 
  • Dry Creek Vineyard – This winery is the Dry Creek Valley AVA. They have a beautiful picnic area. Their Sauvignon Blanc wines and Zinfandel are excellent. We love their Chenin Blanc. Many Dry Creek Vineyard wines are available in supermarkets and wine shops.
  • Alexander Valley Vineyards – This winery is in the Alexander Valley. It is one of the few wineries that you can visit without a reservation. Parties of 6 or more will need to book an appointment. There is a picnic area.  
  • Pedroncelli winery is in the Dry Creek Valley AVA. The winery is family-owned with a start date of 1927. We like their Mother Clone Zinfandel and their Friends White and Friends Red wines.
