2017 Andrew Murray Vineyards Syrah Tous Les Jours

A steal at $13.49 at Costco in San Bruno

Tous Les Jours Syrah is always an excellent wine from the the awesome vintner Andrew Murray. Vintage after vintage, this wine is a fantastic value. The Andrew Murray winery is in the Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara wine country. Syrah grapes love the climate and the soils of this area. There are several wineries that focus on Syrah in this region, but none better than Andrew Murray. Andrew Murray makes five different labels of Syrah. The Tous Les Jours is the entry level. My goodness, the others must be fantastic, because the Tous Les Jours is outstanding. Besides my rating of “Case Worthy,” the wine has 90 Points from W.S., Wine Advocate, and Jeb Dunnuck.

The Tous Les Jours is a medium-bodied wine that packs the meaty flavors of a good Syrah. Dark fruity notes and complex character make for a very enjoyable wine. For foods, we like fried or roasted chicken, or a pork chop or pork tenderloin. This wine also good with a burrito.

The price at the San Bruno Costco is $13.49. KL Wines also carries the Tous Les Jours and the price is $14.95. At the Andrew Murray online wine shop, the wine is $25. 90 Points

2019 Balletto Pinot Gris

Balletto Pinot Gris – Versatile white wine

Balletto is a family-run winery in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. Balletto is more about the vineyards than the winery. The family sells most of its grapes to wineries and keeps the best for itself. The winery is in the Sebastopol area, where cool climate is the key to great Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris.

The Balletto Pinot Gris is at Costco for $13.49. At the winery, the price is $20. I love the many aromatic and lively flavors in this wine. I enjoy starting the dinner hour with a refreshing and zesty glass of white wine. This wine is a delightful mouthful. Fun and whimsical is the way to describe this wine. Pinot Gris is a delightful change-of-pace from Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. 89 Points

2018 Pendulum Red Wine Columbia Valley

The Pendulum is the choice of Vintage Wine Taster Mike. Here is what he says about the Pemdulum Red Blend by the Precepts Wine Company: “The Pendulum is a top flight Columbia Valley red wine.  I am so impressed with this medium-to-full bodied red. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Petit Verdot, 14% Syrah, 10% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Rich dark berries not only explode from the glass, but flood the palate.  The wine is young but wonderful in the glass now. It will age.  I give it 92 points and it’s only $11.99 at the Costco Foster City store.”
