One of the Best Sauvignon Blanc Wines You Can Buy Now

Sauvignon Blanc is the second most popular white wine variety. Sauvignon Blanc comes in many styles, from the grapefruit and gooseberry flavors of New Zealand to the gentle and crisp Sauvignon Blanc of France’s Sancerre region. In the middle is a tropical fruit and savory Sauvignon Blanc. It is the Dry Creek Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, one of the best Sauvignon Blanc wines you can buy now.

One Sauvignon Blanc that stands out, vintage after vintage, is the Dry Creek Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc from the Dry Creek AVA. In wine shops and markets, you will be able to find the 2021 vintage. Costco seems to have the best price, $12.99. The Safeway carries it, and with a mix-or-match of six wines, the price is $14.39. The price at KL Wines is $15.95, but it currently stocks the 2020 vintage.

Tasting Notes

The 2021 vintage is a new release; the wine critics have not yet rated the wine. I’ll start the rating game with 90 points. The 2021 Dry Creek Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is the whole package from start to finish. The aroma brings topical notes, as it does on the palate. The taste is a delightful freshness, with a tantalizing mouthfeel and finish. This S.B. wine is perfect with light fish dishes, cheese plates, and rotisserie chicken.

I made a side-by-side comparison with a 2019 Spring Mountain Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc for $45. I love them both, but I can buy three bottles of the Dry Creek Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc for the price of the Spring Mountain. The Dry Creek Vineyard Sauvignon 2021 is every bit at good as the $45 bottle.

From the Dry Vineyard Vineyard winemaker: “Our elegant and refined Sauvignon Blanc incorporates small amounts of Sauvignon Musqué and Sauvignon Gris, which add a layer of depth and weight to the wine. Stainless steel fermentation was supplemented with small amounts of acacia, French oak and chestnut barrels, adding additional character and nuance to this delicious wine. “

  1. I have enjoyed the Dry Creek wines over the years. Spurred by your review I looked for the 2021 Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc at my local Safeway. What was on the shelf was the 2021 Dry Creek Fume Blanc so I grabbed a bottle (to fill out the six pack of course). A day later I was at Costco (participating in the seniors food sample lunch program) and there found the 2021 Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc, which I purchased. I decided to chill both bottles side by side for a taste comparison. I cannot tell the difference between the 2021 Dry Creek Fume Blanc and the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc. Would you agree? I don’t have any issue with having two different names for the same wine but would be curious to know why the winery would choose to do so. I personally like the Fume Blanc naming convention. Old Bob Mondavi did so much for Cali wines.
