About Riesling
Riesling is the great grape of Germany and the Alsace region of France. It is also grown widely in the Finger Lakes region of New York, and in California, Oregon, and Washington. Riesling wine can be dry, semi-dry or sweet. Rieslings are a delightful dessert wine. The grapes are picked very late in the season and thus the name Late Harvest. These are sweet wines and perfect to accompany dessert. Riesling vineyards are generally located in cool-climate areas.
Character of Riesling
Dry to semi-dry Rieslings are crisp and refreshing and therefore make for lovely drinking on warm days. Riesling is an aromatic wine with various floral and tropical fruit characteristics. Most commonly, the flavors are honeysuckle, apricot, peach, pear, and lemon.
