Karah Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast – Bold

Karah Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Bold and beautiful Karah Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Karah Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2015 – Costco $15.99*

For you lovers of bold Pinot Noir, this one is right up your alley. It is the 2015 Karah Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast. I found the Karah Pinot Noir at the Foster City Costco for $15.99*.

Pinot Noir comes in many styles these days, from light and fresh to bold and heavy. Pinot Noir lovers wage battle over which style is the best.

The Karah Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is all about bold flavors. It is definitely on the heavy side of a Pinot Noir wine. The key character in this wine is black cherry. There is also oak and some earthiness. For $15.99 this Pinot Noir is a wine bargain. A Best Buy when it comes to Pinot Noir wines of this style. If you are a fan of a more traditional and Burgundian style of Pinot Noir, you probably won’t like this Pinot.

The Karah is meaty and deserves pairing with bold dishes. Try something with sautéed mushrooms in a creamy sauce. Pork chops and pork riblets on the grill feel like a good match with the dark cherry flavors and the boldness of the wine.

Karah Estate Vineyards and Winery

The Petaluma Gap AVA is “hot” at the moment when comes to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It’s very popular and trendy. The climate is cool in the Petaluma Gap. There is a ton of fog and wind (from the Pacific Ocean) to make the area the perfect climate for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Michael Karah is the owner, and Reid Kennett is the winemaker. The Karah Estate Vineyard has a tasting room in Cotati, near Highway 101. We have not been to this winery but it looks like a worthwhile visit.

At the Karah Estate Vineyards’ online wine shop, the 2015 Pinot Noir is not available. The 2016 vintage is available for $25. For the lovers of bold Pinot Noir, get it while it lasts at your Costco store.

*Late Breaking News on the Karah at Costco

We did some shopping today at Costco in Foster City. Last week I paid $15.99 for the Karah Pinot 2015. Today, Costco in Foster City is giving a $4.50 rebate. Are they giving this wine away?
