The Invivo Sauvignon Blanc – the perfect picnic wine

2016  Invivo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc $15.99

Invivo Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough Expands to the U.S.

Are you a fan of New Zealand-style Sauvignon Blanc, as in the famous Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc? The 2016  Invivo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is headed to San Francisco Bay Area wine shops and fine supermarkets in the U.S. It has been a popular wine in New Zealand. The Invivo folks have ramped up production of all their wines in an attempt to grow their brand in other markets.  The list price will be around $15.99. I received a sample of the 2016  Invivo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, and I must say this wine packs quite a tropical punch.

The harvest date was April of 2016 and it is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region. The style of the Invivo Sauvignon Blanc is typical New Zealand, but with an additional thrust of the tropics. It is a mouthful of flavors including melon, lime, lemon and honey. It is tangy and refreshing with an excellent finish. The Invivo Sauvignon Blanc is a versatile wine; great as an aperitif, for an outdoor gathering, and a delight with seafood. It is interesting how Sauvignon Blanc can be so different from one area of the globe to another. If you were to taste 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre in France, side-by-side with this wine in a blind tasting, you would be likely to concur that these two wines were made from totally different grapes.

I rate the 2016  Invivo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at 89 Points. The winemaker, Rob Cameron, says drink it now and until 2019. The closure is a screw cap. If you like New Zealandy Sauvignon Blancs, this one is sure to please your palate. Use Wine-Searcher.com to find locations where this wine is available near you.  Be patient, because it looks like it will be a slow roll out here in the San Francisco Bay Area.  More on Invivo Wines
