Whites & Rosés & Sparkling Wines
- Dreyer Chardonnay – Weimax $10.99. A classy Chardonnay with fresh fruit flavor, tropical notes, and honey, all with a terrific mouthfeel.
- Bonterra Sauvignon Blanc – Safeway, Trader Joe’s $9. A very crisp and refreshing S.B. with some citrus character.
- Dry Creek Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc – Costco, Safeway $9 to $10. A beautifully-balanced Sauvignon Blanc with tropical notes and mild citrus character.
- Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc – Trader Joe’s, Safeway $9.99 A great combination of two grapes, has become a favorite outdoor or picnic wine.
- Yalumba Viognier – Cost Plus World Market $7.99. 100% Viognier, stainless steel only. From South Australia.
- Gruet Brut Sparkling Wine – Cost Plus World Market $13.99. Closest to a real Champagne one can buy for under $15. From New Mexico.
- Charles & Charles Rosé – Cost Plus World Market – $7.99, sometimes at Safeway. This a favorite of several Vintage Wine Tasters. 2017 Vintage is a pale salmon color. Nice and light and refreshing.
Red Wines
- Kirkland Russian River Pinot Noir – Costco $12.99. This is the real deal when it comes to Pinot Noir that is full of red fruit and spice, with a beautiful light style. Great price!
- Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel – Weimax Wines $14. A medium-bodied Zinfandel that provides the jammy characteristics of Zinfandel without overpowering.
- Condado De Haza Tempranillo – Costco $17.99. From the Ribera del Duero comes this full-bodied Tempranillo. A spectacular array of flavors.
- Delas Saint-Esprit Cote de Rhone – KL Wines $9.99. Syrah 60% and Grenache 40%, a delicious Rhone blend. A fantastic bargain at under $10.
- Chateau Haut-Blanville Élégante – Costco $14.99. From the Languedoc in France, a remarkable Rhone-style blend rich in flavors.
- Substance Cabernet Sauvignon – Costco $12.99. A Cabernet from Washington’s Columbia Valley. A medium-bodied red that delivers real Cabernet flavors at a great price.
- The Burn “Borne of Fire” Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – KL Wines $19.99 Washington makes wonderful Cabernet and the “Borne of Fire” is a great representation of bold flavors.
- George Duboeuf 2015 Jean-Ernest Descombes (Morgon) – Costco $9.99. A recent addition at Costco and a spectacular price for a Beaujolais. It’s a winner and won’t be around for long at Costco stores.
