Chalk Hill Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

We know that there are many readers of GoodCheapVino who are in search of a decent Chardonnay at a Best Buy Wine price. Look no further than the 2018 Chalk Hill Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Janelle, a massive fan of Chardonnay, is quite excited about the Chalk Hill Chardonnay.

I received the wine as a sample from the good folks from the PR company that represents Foley Family Wines. They suggested the wine is perfect for a book club meeting.

Chalk Hill Sonoma Coast Chardonnay – $13.59 89 Pts.

The Chalk Hill Chardonnay comes from Foley Family Wines’ vineyards in Russian River Valley, Carneros, and Chalk Hill AVA’s. Barrel aging took place in French, American, and Hungarian Oak for ten months. The result is a Chardonnay with terrific balance. We have just the right acidity, minerality, and oaky tones. This allows beautiful aromas and flavors of green apple and a refreshing aspect to the wine. We do not have a wine overloaded with butter and oak as is often the case with California Chardonnay wines.

I found this wine at two stores. The Safeway has the best deal if you mix-or-match six wines. The price is $13.59. At World Market with the same mix-or-match sale, the cost is $16.49. Wine-Searcher.com indicates the average retail price for the Chalk Hill Chardonnay is $20.

Tasty food wine

The 2018 Chalk Hill Chardonnay is versatile. Enjoy the wine with light seafood dishes, roast chicken, or cheese.

We have reviewed other Chardonnay wines recently and the Chalk Hill has the edge in flavors and quality. This is a dandy price for very nice, tasty Chardonnay. We like it at 89 Points. A delicious sipping wine.
