Bodegas Breca Old Vine Garnacha 2012

This week on GoodCheapVino, a delicious red wine and a tasting of 500 Zinfandel wines. A couple of days ago I posted  “Why you should buy Spanish wines now.” Here is another wine to add to the list. This wine just came into many Costco stores. The wine is 100% old vine Garnacha. And on the topic of old vine, how about the upcoming Zinfandel Experience in San Francisco. Plenty of old vine Zin will be on hand for Zin lovers to taste and ponder.

Bodegas Breca Old Vine Garnacha 2012 – Costco $11.99

The Bodegas Breca is from the D.O. Caltayud in the Province of Zaragoza in northeast Spain. Once again, another wonderful wine area of Spain to explore. The Breca old vine is rich in spice on the palate and the finish. It’s elegant in the mouth. This a bolder style of Garnacha. It is rich and robust like one of my favorite reds, the Black Slate from the Priorat. It is far different from a lighter-style Garnacha like the Tres Picos. What a deal for $12! Robert Parker and Steven Tanzer rate it at 91 Points. I go with 89 Points. This minestrone soup recipe will be perfect with the Breca old vine Garnacha.
