Another Best Buy Tempranillo – Embocadero

  • Last week we touted the Condado De Haza Tempranillo; this week it is the 2014 Embocadero Tempranillo
  • Embocadero is from the Ribera del Duero region of Spain
  • Wine Spectator rates it “A Smart Buy”

The producer is Bodegas Pedro Regalado – Embocadero 2014

2014 Embocadero by Bodegas Pedro Regalado

I purchased the 2014 Embocadero at the Foster City Costco, the price $11.99. The wine is all Tempranillo grape from Ribera del Duero. The 2014 Embocadero is stunning quality for such a modest price. I am most impressed with the floral fruit aroma and the long finish.

I checked the producer’s Website, Bodegas Pedro Regalado, and found no information on the wine. Although we know it is the 2014 vintage, we do not know anything about the vineyard or how this wine was fermented and aged. Whatever the productions methods, the wine is excellent. The flavors are full, but the tannins light and the acidity balanced. Like the Condado De Haza, the Embocadero is a terrific food-friendly wine from Spain.  The alcohol is 14%. I rank it 90 points.  Why pay California prices when you can get the real deal from Spain? Costco comes up with another winner.  I like this wine enough to go back ASAP and buy more. Wine Spectator rates at 91 Points and “A Smart Buy.”
