Joel Gott 2013 California Grenache $13.49 at Safeway
Joel Gott 2013 Grenache is Worthy
I am a big fan of Grenache wines from the Southern Rhone and the Languedoc in France. California Grenache wines are also excellent but tend to be above my purchase barrier of $20. I spotted the Joel Gott 2013 Alakai Grenache at the St. Helena Safeway. It is $13.49 for the six-pack price, mix or match. The grapes are from Monterey County and Knights Valley and are a blend of 92% Grenache, 4% Syrah, and 4% Petite Sirah
This wine has plummy aromas and a fresh and spicy taste. This Grenache is light-to-medium bodied in style. It is something more gentle than some of the big red wines of California, as in Zinfandel and Cabernet. The wine has a very nice finish. Overall, it is tasty and enjoyable. I like this wine with foods like Salmon, chicken, pork chops, and Squash Blossom Pizza. I rate the Joel Gott 2013 Grenache at 89 points. It is also available from Wine.com for $16.99 and Joel Gott online wine shop for $18.
