2018 Andrew Murray Syrah Tous les Jours Santa Ynez Valley
The 2018 Andrew Murray Syrah Tous les Jours is a great find at the Redwood City Costco store. The price at that store is $13.49. It is a special offer, and the wine will likely go fast. I have always been a fan of the Andrew Murray Syrah wines. The climate in the Santa Ynez Valley is perfect for Syrah, and along with the winemaking skills of Andrew Murray, the 2018 Tous les Jours is a delicious and robust Syrah.
From the Andrew Murray tech sheet: “The carefully selected vineyard sites are the genius of this wine. Each site is situated in a distinct and unique part of the Santa Ynez Valley. They are all impeccably farmed using sustainable practices to provide modest yields of rich, dark, balanced Syrah. Most of the Syrah comes from the Foxen Canyon corridor, adjacent to my old vineyard. This cooler climate location imparts some wonderful savory characters, ideal natural acidity and color, and rich black cherry quality. Next, we look to warmer sites (like Los Olivos) to provide up-front fruit and jaminess. Lastly, we seek out cool/cold sites in Ballard Canyon and Los Alamos. Here we get insanely dark color, raspberry, pepper and floral notes, all with an incredibly refreshing and age worthy acidity.”
The wine critics love this wine: Wine Enthusiast 93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck 91 Points, Antonio Galloni 91 Points. We will go with 90 Points. We like its intensity and myriad of flavors, bold and beautiful. The Tous les Jours is a meat-loving wine: steak, ribs, lamb shanks, or a beautifully prepared skirt steak wrapped in a tortilla.
The Syrah Tous les Jours is also available at the Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa for $14.99. At KL Wines carries the Syrah for $17.00. This Syrah tastes like a $30 bottle of wine.
The Andrew Murray winery is in the Santa Barbara wine region in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. The winery also has a tasting room in the wine town of Los Olivos. Perhaps you have watched the movie, Sideways; the town is featured in that movie.
