Cameron Hughes Arroyo Seco Chardonnay 2013

We have two very tasty and delicious wines from Costco on our recommended list to start off the first week of March.  These should be available at most Costco stores in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. My local Costco had plenty of these two wines to last through the month.

CH Arroyo Seco Chardonnay

Cameron Hughes 2013 Chardonnay Arroyo Seco

Cameron Hughes Arroyo Seco Chardonnay 2013 – Costco $8.99

What a deal on a well-made Chardonnay for nine bucks! The Cameron Hughes Arroyo Chardonnay is said to be one of the top selling wines in the Cameron Hughes inventory. Their online store says $15 for this wine. Even at that I think the wine is well worth it, but at $8.99 at Costco this wine is a steal for fans of Chardonnay wines. Here’s why: The wine is refreshing with notable tropical character throughout. The oak and acidity are balanced, and the wine has a great mouthfeel (barrel fermented is the reason) and a sufficient finish. I like it and Janelle likes it. I can easily see why this is a top seller.  Chardonnay is the most popular white wine in the U.S. and this price makes it an easy buying decision. It’s a great entertaining wine as well. 88 Points.

La Posta Pizzella Malbec 2012

La Posta Pizzella Malbec 2012

La Posta Pizzella Malbec 2012 $12.99 Costco

I love the flashy label on this Malbec from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina. But inside the bottle, it’s the wine that speaks love. It is an enticing Malbec, rich in character and complexity. Dark fruit abounds along with a touch of spice. This is the perfect wine for poultry or red meat on the grill. The Bounty Hunter in Napa is known for its great wine selections, and this is one of their offerings but for $16.95. Steve Tanzer rates it at 90, Robert Parker rates it at 90, and I like that rating as well.  This red wine is a joy to drink.

Note: After I posted this article I went on a shopping trip to my local Costco. They now have a $3.00 instant rebate on this Malbec. The price is now $9.99. Wow!
